A few days ago I was decluttering my room, like deep cleaning it. I only kept the things that I have been using more than once a week in the past few months. Everything else I threw away and memorable things got put away in a box underneath my bed. I even vacuumed my closet! Let me tell ya, I do not like cleaning, but when I do I'll do it thoroughly. I am a little bit of a"maybe I'll need it in a couple of years"kinda person. But this time I just threw everything out.
While I was going through all of my stuff I was watching different kind of movies, that lifted my mood. Starting off with one of the"Minions-despicable me"movies and ending up with"Dumplin'". All of them were so raw, funny and inspiring to do whatever you desire to do. I did not choose those movies for those particular reasons, but because they gave me the chance to think about everything and nothing. And doing that while I was cleaning felt really refreshing.
That day I stumbled upon the story of the Instagram account"IDONTMIND". I discovered their campaign in the beginning of this year. They were sharing about the mental health collection of 2020 that they are selling on their website. Regarding their new collection they asked in the story about everyone's IDONTMIND-sentences. They wanted to know what we all don't mind about. First thing that came to my mind was:"IDONTMIND taking the time to just sit down and think about everything and nothing.". And that was exactly what I had done that day. I did not mind taking time for myself and treat myself to a "mental brush through". Doing so, by cleaning my room and watching light-hearted and inspiring movies that allowed my thoughts to just flow around. It was really fitting since it was the first of May and as you may know May is the mental health awareness month.
It's important to take time for yourself and realize what you want and what you need so you can be healthy and also proud about all the things you have done and are doing in life.
Head over to their Website (www.idontmind.com) or Instagram to check out, what the world doesn't mind about.
Imagining a day without thinking about something specific, no matter what feelings are involved, is almost impossible. No matter if I am driving the car or travelling by train, going for a walk, while I am showering, during the hours I am making music or a few seconds before I go to bed I always think of something. Yes, I deal with my thoughts during all of those moments too, but that mostly happens unconsciously and not deeply. So I have been trying to take more time to get involved with my mind more deeply and that has really been helping to sort out my thoughts.
It is really difficult to just do nothing and be in my mind. To just let me be bored, but it feels wonderful and has helped me make some decisions. It has taught me to be more thankful for everything that I have, for all the people and experiences in the past that have helped me getting to where I am now. It has been one of the reasons why I am more present in my daily life.
Do you take time to sit down with your mind?
Be more present and I'll see you in my next piece. :)
